A Practical Editing Order for a Photographer’s Homepage Hero

A photographer’s first screen should show representative work and make the next step clear. This hands-on sequence helps first-time site operators prepare materials, refine copy, images, and buttons, then check the inquiry path on mobile.

When building a first website, photographers often try to fit a portfolio, an introduction, and booking information onto the first screen. But visitors first need to know: “What kind of photography does this person offer, and what should I do next?” The editing order below helps keep your copy and buttons from making different promises.

1. Choose one goal before editing

Give the first screen one main goal. If you mainly offer family photography, for example, the goal might be “lead visitors to inquire about a family session.” If you work in weddings, products, and portraits, avoid giving every service equal weight on the first screen. Choose one main focus and point to the other services from your portfolio or service information.

  • Write one sentence naming your main customer and type of photography.
  • Choose one action you want visitors to take next, such as sending a session inquiry.
  • Check what visitors will receive after taking that action, such as information about availability and scheduling.

**Hypothetical example:** “I’m a family photographer in Seoul” identifies a location and audience. “I photograph natural outdoor family moments” says more about both the subject and approach. Adjust the location or style to match your actual work.

2. Gather the facts and write the copy in order

Divide the first-screen copy into three parts: a headline, a short description, and an action button. The headline should say what you photograph. The description adds details about your approach or what a consultation covers. The button should make the next action clear. An evocative phrase is fine, but if it is so abstract that visitors cannot tell what you offer, support it with a specific explanation.

  • Headline: Name the photography focus and intended subject. Example: “Natural photographs of family moments.”
  • Description: Explain your approach or what you can discuss. Example: “I focus on outdoor sessions and work at a pace that suits each family.”
  • Button: Use wording that makes the result clear, such as “Inquire about a session.”

**Hypothetical example:** If the description says “Weekend sessions available,” first confirm that you actually accept weekend bookings. Do not promise prices, availability, or outcomes that have not been confirmed.

3. Select and place a representative image

Choose a first-screen image that supports the claim made in your copy. If you promote family photography but lead with a product photograph, visitors may misunderstand what you offer. If one image cannot represent your main focus clearly, give the main and supporting images distinct roles. Also check that the text and button do not cover important parts of the image.

TalkTalkMySite supports searches for licensed stock images and videos, and its hero slider can contain up to five images. Do not fill every slide just because there is room; check that each image reinforces your main photography focus. Even when stock material is licensed, do not present it as your own client work.

  • Check that the representative image and copy point to the same type of photography.
  • Make sure text or buttons do not cover faces, hands, or the main subject.
  • If you use a slider, check that its images do not send conflicting messages.

4. Connect the copy, image, and button in the editor

TalkTalkMySite supports AI chat and visual editing. You can use AI chat to draft copy, but review the facts and tone yourself, then use visual editing to adjust the real layout and wording. Do not assume that AI-generated copy accurately describes your services, booking process, or offering. The editor provides six Korean OFL fonts with live previews; compare them and choose one that is easy to read.

  • Check headline and description size, line breaks, and contrast.
  • Set the button wording and its destination together. For example, a session inquiry button should lead to a place where visitors can make an inquiry.
  • Test what happens after a click. If the destination does not make the next step clear, revise the wording or destination.
  • Remove AI-generated claims about session conditions or results that are not true.

If a button says “Inquire” but its destination does not explain what to do next, the visitor journey is not complete. Add a note explaining what information visitors can expect after they send an inquiry.

5. Check mobile and review before publishing

A layout that looks good in the editor may break the headline across too many lines on a phone or push the button far down the screen. On mobile, check that visitors can read the main statement, see the representative image, and find the button in a sensible order. If the button is hard to see or tap, shorten the copy or adjust the layout. Test the button on another device as well.

  • Check whether visitors can identify your main photography focus and audience on the first screen.
  • Click the button and confirm that it leads to the intended inquiry path.
  • Check that the image is not awkwardly cropped or covered by text.
  • Reopen the published page and confirm that your saved edits appear.

6. Keep the promise aligned with your actual service

Update the first-screen copy when your availability, session approach, or inquiry process changes. Regularly check that what visitors expect matches what you actually provide. Avoid promises of search visibility or increased inquiries, and publish only information you can verify. Your next action: open the first screen on your phone and tap the button to confirm that it leads to the inquiry path you intended.
