A Design Studio Website, Organized Around Visitor Questions

Before building a site you can edit yourself, sort its pages and content around what visitors want to know. This guide covers materials, decisions, and checks using a clearly labelled hypothetical design studio.

Start with what visitors want to know

A design studio website needs to do more than display attractive work. Visitors often want to know: “What can I hire you to do?”, “How is the cost determined?”, “What does the process look like?”, and “How do I get in touch?” Use these questions as the starting point for your page structure. This helps keep the studio introduction, services, portfolio, and contact details from becoming a jumble.

Before beginning website creation, sort the questions into four groups. Questions about the studio belong on an introduction page; questions about scope and process belong on a services page; questions about past work belong on a portfolio page; and questions about starting a conversation belong on a contact page. You do not need a separate page for every question. If the information is brief, divide it into sections on one page. Split it into separate pages when there is enough information or when the sections serve different purposes.

Hypothetical example: “Corner Design Studio”

The following is a hypothetical example to demonstrate how to organize a site. Suppose Corner Design Studio handles visual design for small brands. Its homepage opens with one or two sentences explaining who the studio serves and what it does. The services page describes the scope of work and collaboration process. Each portfolio entry briefly explains the project, the work performed, and the outcome. The contact page explains what information is useful for an initial discussion and how to get in touch.

Materials to gather for this example include a short studio introduction, descriptions of each service, images and explanations for work that can be shared, and contact details that are actually in use. If the studio cannot share work or does not yet have enough examples, it should not invent clients or results to fill the portfolio. Start with the work that can be shown, then add more when the materials and permission to publish are available.

Organize content so you can edit it yourself

TalkTalkMySite provides no-code templates, AI chat, and visual editing, so coding or design experience is not required to get started. Choosing the purpose and materials for each page before selecting a template can make editing easier. For example, divide a service description into a short heading, scope of work, and process. Use a consistent format for portfolio entries so you can update or add content yourself later.

You can use AI chat to get a draft or ideas for organizing the site, but you do not have to publish generated text as-is. The owner must check service descriptions, contact information, business details, and explanations of the work. Review the text to make sure it does not claim that the studio offers a service it does not provide or state terms that have not been confirmed.

Pre-launch checklist and next step

  • Have you written down the visitor question answered by each page?
  • Are the service scope, portfolio descriptions, and contact details accurate and current?
  • Can visitors read the text and menus on a phone and find a way to contact you?
  • Have you personally checked links, images, page order, and business information?

For an initial choice, Basic is for a website, Standard is for a store, and Premium is for multilingual use. Payments, social login, domains, and shipping require setup. Without the necessary setup, those features may not work as intended. Search rankings and sales are not guaranteed, and neither unlimited free use nor error-free results are promised.

The next step is to write down four visitor questions, decide which page will answer each one, and gather the materials for those pages. Then create a draft with a template and personally review the pages and business details before publishing.
