Before Listing Café Products: Set Product Names, Options, and Stock

A practical preparation guide for café owners starting a no-code store. Set consistent product names, clear options, and usable stock rules with a labelled hypothetical example and a launch checklist.

Decide first: product names customers can understand

Prioritize information customers can recognize and compare over internal nicknames. A useful order is “product type + distinguishing feature + weight or quantity.” Use the same order for products of the same kind. Avoid claims such as “popular” or “best” when you cannot explain their basis. If a name gets too long, keep only the essential distinctions and put other information, such as origin or storage instructions, in the product description.

Prepare a list of products to sell, the exact names to display, weights or pack contents, prices, and a photo for each product. Before listing, check that the names match the wording on the packaging. Publishing a temporary internal name can leave customers unsure which option to select.

Make each option a clear choice

Create options only for differences customers can actually choose. Decide which details affect a purchase, such as weight, coffee bean type, or packaging, and do not combine different selection criteria in one option. Use verifiable labels such as “500 g” rather than vague wording such as “large.” Check separately whenever an option has a different price or stock level. Also make sure that a choice is not marked as required when customers do not actually need to select it.

**Hypothetical example — “Corner,” a café:** Name the product “House Blend Coffee Beans, 200 g.” Split its options into “Grind: whole bean / ground for drip” and “Pack: 1 bag / 2 bags.” Make the contents of the two-bag selection explicit in the product name or option description so customers do not confuse one 200 g bag with two. This example is hypothetical and is provided for illustration.

Match stock counts to your operating rules

First decide whether stock means the number of sale-ready packaged units or the quantity you can make from ingredients or production capacity. Record when an item should be marked out of stock and who updates quantities, including after a cancellation or damaged item. If you track stock separately by option, check that the stock unit matches the unit you sell. Update quantities from one agreed source. If in-store and online sales draw from the same supply, check how stock is deducted across both channels.

Pre-publication checklist and next step

  • Do product names, option labels, and prices match the packaging and sales units?
  • Have you checked the unit sold and stock quantity for every option?
  • Have you prepared photos, product contents, necessary shipping information, and a way for customers to ask questions?
  • Have you tested payment, domain, and shipping settings, as well as the purchase flow?

No-code tools can help you get started with templates, AI chat, and visual editing; coding or design experience is not required to begin. However, the owner still needs to check the content, page layout, and business details. TalkTalkMySite Basic is for a website, Standard for a store, and Premium for multilingual use. Payments, social login, domains, and shipping require setup. Search ranking, sales, unlimited free use, or operation without mistakes are not guaranteed. As a next step, list just three representative products, define each product’s options and stock rules, then test the listings and the order flow.
